One of the numerous false claims of Islam is that Neil Armstrong - the first person to set foot on the Moon - while walking on the Moon's surface heard sounds in a language he did not understand. But upon returning to Earth he came to find out that what he had heard was actually that Adhan (call to prayer). As a result Neil became a Muslim and is to this day. To help strengthen this claim, Muslims often make a point of mentioning that the famed astronaut now lives in Lebanon which is believed to be roughly 60% Muslim.
A response to this issue does not need any scientific evaluation or extravagant evidence. Instead all we need is a response from Mr. Armstrong himself.
Dear Mr. Parshall:
Mr. Armstrong has asked me to reply to your letter and to thank you for the courtesy of your inquiry.
The reports of his conversion to Islam and of hearing the voice of Adhan on the moon and elsewhere are all untrue.
Several publications in Malaysia, Indonesia and other countries have published these reports without verification. We apologize for any inconvenience that this incompetent journalism may have caused you.
Subsequently, Mr. Armstrong agreed to participate in a telephone interview, reiterating his reaction to these stories. I am enclosing copies of the United States State Department's communications prior to and after that interview.
Sincerely
Vivian White
Administrative Aide
That pretty much sums it up. Oh and the claim that Neil Armstrong moved to Lebanon is entirely true, however it is Lebanon, Ohio... in the United States. Not Lebanon in the Middle East.
